The First dental visit includes the following: Comprehensive Exam,X rays and Cleaning
Doctors at our office focus on comprehensive dentistry. We not only focus on the problem but also reason the cause. Our approach will be complete exam so we can understand and evaluate complete oral health for your absolute best care.
After your exam we discuss your oral health ,giving you a basic understanding of the health of your mouth is an incredibly valuable tool, in that it can allow you make informed choices to improve your health and quality of life.
Comprehensive exam includes the following:
1.Digital radiography
We take a series of digital images in order to understand the condition of the teeth, jaw joints, and bone levels. We use these images so we can better explain to the patient what we see. We give each patient a “tour of their mouth,” in order to best explain its overall health. We show you the radiographs and explain our findings.
There are two types of radiographs that we use as a diagnositc tool.
Panoromic radiograph
It takes a complete picture of your jaw and it helps us evaluate your bone level , wisdom teeth location and sinus level.
Intraoral radiographs
these are small radiographic sensors that help us diagnose a tooth
Intraoral Camera- The photo graphs of your teeth displayed on the monitor on the ceiling helps you see and understand the needs for dental care.
2. Oral Cancer Screening
Our Doctors Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums well as the x-rays for any signs of oral cancer. or abnormalities. Finding problems early is important for the best chance of being remedied.
3 Gum Disease Evaluation/Periodontal Exam
we look at the gum health ,bone and tooth structure This allows us to diagnose potential periodontal disease, clenching and grinding issues, as well as the reasons for cracked or broken teeth. Gaining an understanding of these issues allows you to decide what treatment you would need.
There is close relation between general health to the oral health.
Pregnancy causes hormonal changes that increase the risk of developing gum disease It's important for you to take good care of your teeth and gums while pregnant. Studies have shown that gum disease can have adverse health outcome on patients with hypertension and diabetes.
Periodic gum evaluation is very important aspect of recall oral exam which is advised at 4- 6months interval.
4. Explanation
A t the end of the exam, we will review all of this information with the patient so they can understand why they may be experiencing certain symptoms
